Regular salary: the real gift!
Patna: The Bihar government today decided to pay salaries to the 2.5 lakh contractual teachers through banks, an official said. This has long been an issue within the teaching community and the government has faced a steady barrage of criticism from the teaching community and others. After all, such dissatisfaction may affect the quality of teaching in schools, not to mention the general atmosphere. It has not been uncommon for a contract teacher to be paid after a gap of six-eight months. Thus the decision comes with considerable relief.
The decision in this regard was taken at a cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, principal secretary (cabinet coordination and secretariat) Ravikant told reporters. The salaries of the contractual teachers will be credited in their accounts through the public sector and scheduled banks, he said.
The funds towards the salaries to the contractual teachers will be made available to the nodal recruiting agencies from where the same will be deposited in the individual teachers bank accounts by 15th day of every month, Ravikant said. The teachers will get information about credit of their salaries in their bank accounts through SMSes, the official said.
