New Delhi: in a latest development, Managing Director P S Gahlaut of the Fertiliser company Indian Potash Ltd (IPL) announced that it will invest about Rs 300 crore to set up a sugar plant and distillery in Bihar. Currently, IPL has five sugar plants in Uttar Pradesh (UP) with a total crushing capacity of 12,000 tonnes of cane per day.

In a major boost for Bihar power sector, Ganga Power and Natural Resources (GPNR) Ltd signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) for setting up a super critical thermal power project (2×660 MW) at Pirpainty in Bhagalpur district. According to MOU, the plant will start generating power from 2014.
