Dear Citizens of Patna,
Yesterday, a friend of mine took a trip to his local barber to get himself a new haircut. Being the talkative type, the natural subject of choice was who’s going to win the election.
The barber, it turned out believed that a Chief Minister who has given Bihar a better deal than others should be given another chance. And then he said, “I’m going to my village to drop in my vote on the 28th”. It also happened that this barber was from my friend’s village. Talk about Hindi film co-incidence!
This set my friend thinking. Here was a semi-literate Muslim ‘hajam’ who believes that his vote is vital to keep Bihar on track. Here was a poor man who takes his duty to vote so seriously that he shuts up his shop, takes the bus to his village some four hours away from Patna, stands in a queue, and ‘drops in his vote’. On the other hand, here was my friend: a savvy, high-tech, high earning, articulate, well known chap, whose voter card would probably be unused, even though he had a lot to say about the state of the nation and the state of Bihar.
That evening, as we cruised through brightly lit Patna in an air-conditioned luxury car to enjoy a late night ice-cream, my friend rang up his village home to inform them that he too would be returning to his village to cast his vote. He told me, “If that ordinary villager believes in the new Bihar so much that he’d willing to forfeit his income to make sure he votes for it, I better do the same.”
Dear net-savvy citizens, if you believe that Bihar should change for the better, get out there and vote. If you want your bright new shiny urban lifestyle, get out there and vote, If you want your better education and better power supply, get out there and vote. Let’s not use the voter ID card as a mere tool to get us a passport or telephone connection.
If you want development, get out there and vote for it. Remember, you’ll get the government you deserve.
Do you deserve a better life, or one where you’re your doctor is beaten up and his son abducted for ransom? Do you deserve a city with shiny showrooms, or a dark town where new cars are plundered for the Chief minister’s daughter’s wedding? Do you deserve a new mall in your neighbourhood, or a pot-holed, paan-stained locality where women’s jewellery is torn from their necks and your hard earned salary is looted at gun-point?
Young voters, do you want a State capital with good educational and job opportunities? Or do you want to return to home from Mumbai creeping past darkened streets carrying lanterns?
It’s up to you, folks. If you want a resurgent Bihar, get off your seats and into the polling booths.
Electively yours,

Well yes, I agree. I would surely vote this time. I want a govt. that has potential to carry forward the positive changes that have begun. And, that can only be done if people like me vote properly.

Each one of us is a part of our democracy, and each one of us have a very small duty to perform and that is to VOTE.If we can t perform a single tiny task then we have got absolutely no right to blaim anybody.
It is said that democracy works best when each one performs the duty assingned to them,so waht are we waiting for????Its in our hands either to make it or break it!!!!
So all you people out there take pride to be an indian, vote because every vote counts!!!!Don t think that your vote won t count because at the end you have the satisfaction of completing yor job!!
And thanks to effkay because this was really needed!
Even though there were Maoist threats, and some violence, Phase 4 51 percent voters turnout. Thanks to the younger genertion and also middle class people voting
i just do not have a proper vision for whom to vote. There is so much of casteism involve in our voting system.if i vote for a party of other caste my interest might suffer. One must have a sufficient knowledge of political scenario.I only have an over view of political situation.Whenever i talk to my father regarding caste free voting he use to shout on me.He tells me that if political power goes to people of other caste our status and working will suffer.there is no point of development if my personal state suffers.who at this stage will completely work for development of bihar i dont know.i just get too much excited when i imagine as one of the developed state of india
Every parent must encourage their children to vote. Every election day my dad makes us get up early and be at the polling booth by seven a.m.
who is effkay ?
YOUNG GENERATION OF BIHAR HAVE SAME ASPIRATIONS AS THE YOUTH OF OTHER DEVELOPED/ FAST DEVELOPING PARTS OF INDIA. TO SOME EXTENT NITISHKUMAR BE HELPFUL, HE HAS TO FOLLOW NARENDRABHAI OF GUJARAT….BHUPENDRA MODY(ADAILAIDE-AUS)
