Nitish led coalition created a record by winning 206 seats in Bihar after seperation of Jharkhand, while he missed the another one by whisker that is percentage of assembly seats.  Congress led by Srikrishna singh won 239 seats out of 276 seats that time that is 86.59 % while Nitish led coalition won 84.77% 0f asembly seats.

This is the third time that any party or combination has got more than 3/4 majority. In 1951 & 1957 election Congress got 3/4th majority, that makes Nitish the only non congress leader to lead a coalition to 3/4 majority. The second record for him.

While after emergency and J.P movement, during 1977 elections when entire opposition faught under one umbrella in leadership of Karpuri Thakur that time also they could win only 66.04 %  seats in strong 318 member assembly.

This trend shows the enormous confidence people has shown in his development plank, and women empowerment. Here is the complete list of seats won by ruling party since we had first election in Bihar in 1951:
