Global scientists to assist Bihar with organic farming: international seminar on 22-24th June
Patna: according to a news agency report, the Bihar government will host a seminar of agricultural scientists from a number of countries on the theme of organic farming. To be held on 22-24 June, this meet will focus on the specific climate/soil/socio-economic context of Bihar.
According to Principal Secretary Agriculture A K Sinha ‘The government has decided to invite experts from France, England, Cuba and some European nations for international seminar in June at Patna’.
It is expected that the June 22-24 seminar will help in exploring ways to promote organic farming in the context of Bihar’s ecology. The sources stated that apart from agriculture scientist individuals manufacturing vermicompost and international agencies granting approval to its production have been also invited.
The seminar is seen by the government as part of a progressive agriculture road-map for the state for next five year. The government is also aware that given dismal record of agricultural productivity in the state, its advocacy of chemical- free farming should not be seen as compromising productivity as well as profits earned by the farmers.
